Terms of Service
Effective date: October 1, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Akeem Jones ("we", "us"), who provides Roots Playbook. Roots Playbook is a football play-design app, on the web at rootsplaybook.com and in our iOS app (together, the "Service").
By using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Who may use Roots Playbook
Audience. Roots Playbook is a football play-design tool for coaches, players, parents and team staff. People of any age may use it on their own device and view a team's playbook with Team View.
Accounts. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account (section 2).
Minors. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian who allows you to use the Service is responsible for that use. In the iOS app, where state law requires it (currently Texas), Apple confirms age ranges and asks a parent or guardian to approve a minor's download.
Where it's available. The Service is offered in the United States.
2. Accounts
Without an account. You can use the Service without an account. Your work then stays on your device.
With an account. An account lets you sync across devices, own or join teams, and share playbooks. You sign in with Google or with Apple. You must be at least 13 to create one.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your Google or Apple account secure.
- Give accurate information. Your display name should be a name your team will recognize. Do not impersonate anyone.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Account & Sign-In → Delete Account). The app explains what happens to your playbooks and teams before you confirm. The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted and what stays with teams.
3. Teams, roles and sharing
Roles. Teams have four roles:
- Owners and Admins manage the team and its sharing.
- Editors change playbooks. Where a team requires approval, an Editor's changes to plays, including deleting a play, wait for an Owner or Admin to approve them. Editors may delete only plays they created.
- Viewers can only view.
Live collaboration. Members who can edit may see one another's activity live while editing (Privacy Policy, section 3.5).
Team View links and codes
- They let people view a team's published plays without an account.
- The coach who shares a link is responsible for who receives it. Guests give only a name; ask players to use a first name or nickname, not their full name.
- Anyone who has a live link or code can open it. Turning off or replacing a link stops it from being used again, but people who already joined keep access until they are disconnected individually.
Leaving or being removed
- When you leave a team or are removed from it, you lose access to its playbooks. Copies on your devices are removed the next time they sync.
- Playbooks and plays you contributed stay with the team.
- You keep a private copy, on your device, of the plays you created. You may not keep anyone else's plays.
- A play counts as yours only where our records show you created it. Plays added before we recorded this have no recorded creator unless our records show one for certain; Owners and Admins manage those plays.
Deleting a play. Deleting a play in a team playbook removes it for everyone on the team. Owners and Admins can restore it from Recently Deleted for 90 days.
Exports
- Owners and Admins, and anyone the team allows to export, can export, print, download and copy a team's plays.
- Other Editors may export or copy only the plays they created.
- Exported files leave the Service. You are responsible for where you send them.
4. Your content
What "your content" means. Your content includes the plays, formations, playbooks, notes, names, logos and other material you create or upload. You keep whatever rights you have in it.
The permission you give us. To run the Service, you give us a limited permission to:
- store, copy, sync and process your content;
- display it to you, to the teams you share it with, and to the Team View guests your team admits;
- keep history as described in the Privacy Policy;
- hand over shared team playbooks to a remaining owner if you delete your account, as the deletion screen describes.
This permission ends when your content is deleted from the Service, except for copies kept for the periods in the Privacy Policy and for content that stays with a team you shared it with.
Team content. Content added to a team playbook is shared with that team and stays with it, as described in section 3.
Your responsibility for what you enter
- You confirm you have the right to post your content.
- You must not post information about other people that you are not entitled to share.
- Information about players: each player has a profile name of up to 40 characters, such as a first name, nickname or initials. Enter only what your team needs to run its plays, and don't add contact details or other personal information, especially about minors.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the Service to break the law or infringe others' rights;
- harass, threaten or harm anyone, or share content about minors that is inappropriate;
- try to access playbooks, accounts or teams you have not been given access to, or guess links or codes;
- interfere with, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the Service, except as the law allows;
- use the Service to send spam or to collect other users' information.
Reporting a problem. Team Owners and Admins can remove members and disconnect Team View guests. To report content or behaviour that breaks these terms, email akeem.jones@ksr-media.com. We will look into it and may remove content or end access.
6. Screenshots and screen recording
The iOS app is built to block screenshots, screen recordings and the app-switcher preview of its screens, to help keep playbooks from being copied. It may not work in every situation, and the web app does not do this.
7. Price
Today. The Service is free of charge for a limited time.
Paid plans. We may introduce paid subscriptions or features in the future. If we do, we will tell you the prices and terms before you are charged, and you will not be charged without agreeing to them.
This is not a trial. The current free period is not a free trial of a subscription.
8. Availability and changes to the Service
- We provide the Service "as is", and we may change, suspend or discontinue features.
- Cloud features depend on our service providers and on an internet connection. Work stored only on your device stays usable offline.
- Keep your own backups. The app can export your playbooks. We do not offer a service to restore individual content.
9. Termination
By you. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
By us. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or who puts other users or the Service at risk.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
No warranties. To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limits on damages. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data or lost profits.
Cap on liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) US$100.
Rights you keep. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Denton County, Texas.
12. Changes to these terms
We will post changes on this page and update the effective date. If a change is material, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms. Where state law requires it, we will also notify Apple of a significant change.
13. Apple
If you use the iOS app, these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app.
